I hope you are using the tips I have been sharing on how to manage you mind and boost your self-esteem. Here is a quick review:

Tip # 1 – Supervise your self-talk. Right now, whether you realize it or not, you are having a running conversation with yourself.

Tip # 2 – Stop comparing yourself to others.

Tip #3 – Stretch your limiting beliefs. Some of you might be saying something like, “When it comes to believing in myself, I am agnostic.”

I think the fourth tip is going to surprise you. In my thirty-five years in the people helping business, this advice has helped hundreds of people feel better about themselves, lower their stress, push back depression, and increase their overall well-being.

Here is the tip:

Tip #4 – Build up others. People with low self-esteem often see themselves as inadequate or feel like victims (that often starts because they actually have been victimized in their past), and they over-focus on themselves. They can become self-protective and selfish because they feel they have to survive.

If this sounds a little close to home, one of the best ways you can combat those feelings is by serving others and working to add value to their lives. Making a difference – even a small one – in the lives of others lifts one’s self-esteem. It is hard to feel bad about yourself when you are doing something for someone else. In addition, adding value to others makes them appreciate you more. It creates a cycle of positive feeling from one person to another.

Zig Ziglar put it this way,” When you encourage others, you in the process are encouraged because you are making a commitment and difference in that person’s life. Encouragement does make a difference.
