8 Ways to Turn Fears into Profits

Fear to Profits Part # 1

John H. Thurman Jr., M.Div., M.A., LPCC

Well, the green-eyed guy was kind of creepy wasn’t it? You do know that the Green-eyed monster really does not exist, but if you believe he does then you will remain frozen in fear. I am going to show you how to push the green-eyed monster back.

Newsflash– the reason your business is stuck and not going where you want it to could be related to how you are dealing with fear!

Hey, I don’t want to rain on your parade, but do you know why most people who join a direct sales/service company fail? Fear!

I know, apart from being a professional counselor, speaker, and author, I have been involved with my wife in a wonderful home based, Christ center business called Premier Designs Jewelry. Moreover, believe me, I have had to deal with my fear.

You will read many “experts” who will teach you about fear and how to handle fear, but you will not find many that have walked the road of a home-based business partner and were a professional counselor.

I admit it, I was scared “spitless” when we started our journey in direct sales had not been fun before.

The fear of what others would think about a professional counselor being part of a home based business.

I remember when I told some of my counseling friends about the venture, they looked down their stuck up noses and said, “Lots for luck with the jewelry.” Needless to say, I did not get any encouragement from them. Unfortunately, one quit practicing because they could never make any money, another is divorced, and the other one is still amazed at all of the good things that have come out of our home based business journey.

I found some stardust that might help!

So, please read on and let me sprinkle some stardust on you.

If you can confront you fears, develop a dream, and choose to honor God and others, the sky is the limit.

As we begin this bi-weekly journey be looking for additional goodies that you can win as we learn to push back fear.

Here are four basic truths you need to understand too much back the fear and make a profit.

After all of my mistakes, here are a few things I have learned, and continue to learn about managing the voices.

1. Don’t pick goals where the stakes are small.

When you stay inside the safety of your comfort zone, by listening to and obeying the little voices, it is a way of self-sabotage. It is not so much failure as it is a clever way of holding you back.

If you fail inside your comfort zone, it is not a failure, it is just maintaining the status quo. If that is all that you want to do, then you will never try anything new, and the voices will have won.

2. Nobody it rooting for you to fail.

Maybe you will succeed. Maybe you will fall flat on your face. For the most part, nobody cares one way or the other.

This is a good thing! The world in front of you is massive, and you and I are small, and that means you can pursue your dreams with little worry of what people think.

3. Just because you do not like where you have to start from doesn’t mean you should not get started.

I wish I were a better writer when I started writing. I wish I were smarter about money and business when I first started out. I wish I were a better photographer when I picked up a camera. However, more than anything, I am glad that I chose to start even though it was not very pretty in the beginning.

Here is a hard question I had to ask myself. How long will you put off what you are capable of doing just to maintain what you are currently doing?

4. Stop making uncertain things, certain.

Who says you are going to fail? Just because someone else didn’t do well in that job or business does not mean you will also fail.

You always have a choice, and in America, those choices can lead you to a place of self-satisfaction, increased self-esteem, profitability, blessing others, and living intentionally.
Stop acting, believing that failure is a sure thing for you. It is not

4. The only real failure is not taking any action in the first place. all it takes to step out of fear is to step out.

We all struggle with feelings of fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Unfortunately, most of us let those feelings dictate our actions. For this reason, the simple decision to act is often enough to separate you from most people. You do not need to be great at what you do you just need to be the person who decides to do it.

You can experience more blessings and success by doing the things that most people make excuses to avoid.

Here is your challenge
1. Email me one of the biggest fears that you are facing, and I will share some solution to your fear (without mention you) in future blogs.

2. Share a comment or a thought

3. Share the link with your friends.
